Health Innovation led by the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria

"Those operating in front-line primary & secondary care provision are rightly and justly supported, promoted and celebrated. Especially when we see our NHS England stretched and under immense pressure.

However, as a broader community it is easy not to see the magic that goes on behind the scenes.

This week I had the privilege of chairing a session at the wonderful Newcastle Helix as part of the regional showcase of Health Innovation led by the Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria (AHSN NENC). The two days were spent highlighting the incredible life science assets, resources and infrastructure we have across the North East and North Cumbria Region.

It was refreshing to see such a positive & proactive, authentic approach by Matthew WhittyPollyanna J.Breid O'Brien

For me the AHSN is one of the most value driven anchor organisations I have had the pleasure of supporting, the determined, devoted and dedicated team led by Nicola Hutchinson, Russ Watkins, Arnab Basu MBE DL and the power of the established partnerships, allow for miracles to happen within our health care provision right here in the North East.

The innovation pathway that has been developed, and the Life Science Pledge, allows for an impact driven common purpose approach to help deliver on the overall ambition of creating a healthier and more prosperous region, with better life and livelihood outcomes.

A heartfelt thank you to you all at the AHSN and the partners. You are amazing and we should all be immense proud of all you do.

Look forward to supporting more life science innovation and the incredible individuals all making a huge difference."
